A work of fiction, telling the story of a young Nigerian girl that has witnessed more in her short life time than anyone should ever have to experience, yet through all she has been through she had retained a child-like view of the world. The story is narrated through her eyes and her words, and the innocence in which she tried to comprehend what she witnessed in the world would often leave me questioning the absurdity of much which we in the western world hold up as ‘progress’ or ‘development’. This book also looks at the personal cost when one who has experienced horror never seeks out the help and support needed to process it, that buried memories never truly stay buried but will resurface at same stage.
